Just one week to go! Preparations for the motorcycle trip to Norway have really picked up pace, and itโ€™s starting to feel like everythingโ€™s finally coming together. Thereโ€™s been a steady stream of small purchases and last-minute adjustments โ€“ hereโ€™s a recap of the latest.

Rain Gear Ready โ€“ and a New Jacket Too

Both riders are now fully equipped with rain gear. I visited Veljekset Siltala in Tuuri and picked up rain gloves โ€“ and ended up getting a new jacket as well. My old one no longer kept out the rain, even in a light drizzle, so I went with the Sweep GT Adventure 2. It already feels like a much better choice for unpredictable weather.

Memory Cards, Sleeping Gear and Space-Saving Essentials

I stopped by Veljekset Keskinen to buy extra memory cards for the camera โ€“ Iโ€™m hoping to capture as much riding footage as possible along the way. Unfortunately, my laptop wonโ€™t be coming with me, since almost all the gear is packed on my bike and thereโ€™s just no space for it.

I also bought a new sleeping bag from Motonet โ€“ the old one took up way too much room. While there, I grabbed two ultracompact sleeping pads. They may not be the most comfortable for sleeping, but saving space is key right now. We do have a cabin booked in Norway, but itโ€™s possible weโ€™ll be sleeping in a tent on the first night โ€“ so better to be prepared.

Tank Bag Setup โ€“ DIY Fix for the GTR

Next up, Iโ€™ll be sorting out the tank bag mount for my Kawasaki GTR 1400 (using the Givi Tanklock system). Unfortunately, thereโ€™s no ready-made mounting ring available for my bike model, so Iโ€™ll have to make one myself. Every cubic centimeter of packing space counts at this point.

Oil Changes, Documents and Final Packing

Before we hit the road, weโ€™ll be changing the oil on both bikes. I also need to get paper copies of our vehicle registration documents โ€“ it seems that digital versions might not be accepted in Norway. Powerbanks are charging, and overall itโ€™s starting to feel like weโ€™re nearly ready to roll.

Final Checklist โ€“ Safety Gear in the Bag

A few final items remain: we still need to pick up high-visibility vests and a warning triangle, which are mandatory in many countries. Once those are packed, we can officially say that weโ€™re ready.
